Questions about covering fire and resist effects

1. The guards and sentries are noted to have a 1 d6 endurance however the examples on pages 57 and 58 of the printed rulebook show the sentry and 2 guards rolling 2 dice to resist damage. Are the examples incorrect?

2. The SMG can lay down covering fire and all targets must be in the same line of sight. Not sure what same is pertaining to since the example in page 58 show Link firing on three targets, all in different lines of sight.
